After the recent upheaval in the education sector, there is a need for the industry to look both inwards and outwards, to find new solutions to the problems, it’s facing. That is exactly, what the Edutech Summit of INZBC intends to do.
“India has the market and New Zealand has a high quality in education, so there are ways to look at collaborations among institutions, to create a win-win situation”, Says, Bhav Dhillon, Treasurer, INZBC.
“The Summit this year, is trying to start new dialogues in this area, to bring a positive impact on the industry on both sides of the world.”
During the visit of then Prime Minister of New Zealand, Hon’ble John Key to India in October 2016, India-New Zealand Business Council (INZBC) and FICCI signed a MoU to enhance cooperation in education, skills and technology between both the countries. One of the initiatives that FICCI and INZBC have taken up to is to engage in organizing the “Edutech 2017: Knowledge, Skill, Technology” scheduled to be held in Auckland on August 3-4, 2017.
To ensure high level participation, FICCI is mounting a delegation of higher education leaders from universities/higher educational institutions and government. Some of the key institutions joining the delegation are Manipal University, National Institute of Technology, Ashoka University, Shiv Nadar University, BITS Dubai, etc. The Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India has been invited for the Summit and some of the senior government officials from the Ministry are also expected to participate.
“This engagement will entail exchange of ideas & best practices and explore opportunities for collaboration in the area of education, skill and technology between India and New Zealand”, says Shobha Mishra Ghosh, Assistant Secretary General, FICCI.
Shobha reiterates, “The delegation will also use this opportunity for focused B2B meetings and exposure visits to top quality universities and Centres of Excellence in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.”
With the high level delegation coming from India, the New Zealand government is also supporting the Summit in the best possible way”, says Wenceslaus Anthony, Head of Govt. Relations, INZBC.
With the support of MFAT, NZTE and Education New Zealand, the Summit will see policy makers from both the countries come together to set new pathways.
