Asia NZ Foundation held a meeting in New Delhi on the May 25th, at the Official Residence, New Zealand High Commission.
The meeting was headed by Mr Simon Draper, the Executive Director of NZ think tank, Asia New Zealand Foundation. Simon was accompanied by:
Professor Sekhar Bandyopadhyay, Director of the NZ India Research Institute and Head of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science & International Relations at the Victoria University of Wellington (VUW)
Dr Kate McMillan, Senior Lecturer in Comparative Politics at VUW
Manjeet S. Pardesi, Senior Lecturer in the Political Science and International Relations Programme and an Asia Research Fellow
Dr James To, Senior Adviser (Research), at the Asia New Zealand Foundation
And Mr Abbas Nazari, who is part of Asia New Zealand’s Young Leaders Network
The purpose of the delegation’s visit was two-fold: firstly, to continue to grow and deepen the India-New Zealand bilateral relationship, and secondly, to better understand modern India and the changes taking place here.
On this meeting, the New Zealand delegation engaged with young, dynamic leaders to share perspective on India and where it is heading. The event was hosted by the New Zealand High Commissioner, HE Joanna Kempkers. Discussed issues including the role of women, digitalisation in India, press freedom, entrepreneurship, India’s youth dividend and responded to questions the delegation posed.
