University of Waikato Presents: 3rd India - New Zealand Business Forum

In accordance with the MOU between the governments of India and New Zealand and the aspiration to promote trade between the two nations, the first New Zealand India Business Forum was successfully held at Hamilton, New Zealand in November, 2012. The success of the first forum led to the hosting of the second forum in December 2013 in Ahmedabad (Gujarat), India. Both forums were a platform for academics and corporate colleagues from both the countries to come together and understand the nuances of doing businesses within each other's territories. While the two business forums held in Hamilton and Ahmedabad focused largely on channelling New Zealand investments to India and developing a better understanding of Indian markets and business practises, the 3rd forum seeks to facilitate direct trade/business contacts for exploration of mutual and reciprocal opportunities in chosen areas of commerce and economic development.

Date: 4-5 Dec, 2014

Time: 8am - 5 pm

Venue: Waikato Management School, Gate 7, Hillcrest Road, Hamilton, New Zealand.

India's market may be as big as China's: Spare a thought for New Zealand's political and business journalists over the next few days. In pursuit of the news on the state of the global economy and New Zealand's prospects to be a slightly larger speck within it, journalists, politicians, officials and a small but dedicated band of exporters are in the process of fanning out through the Asia-Pacific region. High hopes for exporting lamb to India: India could become the next fast burner for red meat if not at the same searing pace as China, says the Alliance Group. Marketing general manager Murray Brown said the potential of the Indian market could not be under-estimated and Alliance could ill afford to ignore its promise. "In the next three to five years we could see 10 to 15 per cent of meat cuts go there. That's probably speculative, but we already have a lot of co-products going there." Read More

Zespri targets India for kiwifruit sales: Indians are developing a taste for kiwifruit, but a duty of more than 30 per cent is a significant barrier to growing the market on the subcontinent.
